Job Summary:

Responsible for performing a wide variety of complex, technical financial activities. These activities may include interpreting financial trends, identifying financial deviations from expected performance and reporting financial results to various business units within the organization. Utilizing sound financial techniques, the Sr. Business Analyst is expected to proactively identify opportunities that positively impact the profitability of the business. The Sr. Business Analyst must also maintain a high degree of competence in the various financial systems that are utilized throughout the business.

Job Responsibilities:

• Reviews and analyzes the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational data specific to assigned projects. Reconciles differences and inconsistencies in the financial and operational data being reported within the various corporate systems.
• Prepares and analyzes daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports and statements for upper management. Prepares charts, tables, and other exhibits for use in reports. Prepares reports, statements, working papers, schedules, exhibits, and summaries supporting assigned business engineering projects.
• Coordinates and completes activities related to pro forma statements, new business analysis, rights of first refusal, labor usage budgets, new store budgets and bonus distributions for store-level management.
• Prepares and assures the accurate and timely entry of data to the central computer databases of the Company. Conducts analysis to include the design, development, and implementation of business systems to be used by the department and other members of management.
• Researches, analyzes, and explains current and past activity, expected trends and potential effect of change. Presents and supports findings and recommendations to various management levels within the organization.
• Reviews and recommends process improvements to the inventory reconciliation process to significantly increase efficiency that positively impacts the frequency to manually review physical inventories
• Determines the effect of operating program changes to existing financial systems. Recommends solutions to complex financial issues and prepares changes in the financial systems with approval at executive management level.
• Develops and reports on nonstandard accounting, financial and operational reports that require an in-depth knowledge of Walgreen finance and operations.
• As required, provides the accounting division with requested audit data that support the compliance of generally accepted accounting standards and ensures proper financial controls are being followed.
• As required, trains and/or helps junior and other Rules Department analysts.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s  degree and at least 1 years experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management or economics. OR High School/GED and at least 4 years experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management or economics.
• Experience communicating verbally and in writing with small groups (3-5 people) that may include management levels up to the VP level.
• Experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience levels within an organization. 
• At least 1 year experience reviewing and analyzing reports.
• At least 1 year experience facilitating meetings in which data is presented.
• Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).
• Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
• Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or Economics.
