Sheridan, a CJK Group company, recently acquired the former McNaughton & Gunn facility in Saline, MI and is looking for a Logistics Supervisor.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Interviews, selects, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Research Lead, direct and manage all logistics operations.
- Coordinate shipping, receiving, and warehouse operation schedules to ensure on-time delivery to customer destinations. Work with other department supervisors to adjust schedules for delivery and pick-up when production issues arise.
- Work with vendors, General Manager and Plant Manager to negotiate contracts and rates for transportation services utilized by the company.
- Track all transportation claims, ensuring resolution. Research potential new carriers, rates and services, as needed.
- Maintain company inventory and ensure accuracy of all product and material on-sight and in warehouses.
- Manage recycling programs on-site, monitor FSC materials and processes within department.
- Follow up with vendors and customers to ensure timely deliveries or pick-ups, resolving any shipping errors and other issues that arise. Recommend, implement and support process changes.
- Attend meetings to include daily production meetings, workflow improvement, policy and procedure changes, safety management, and other meetings as necessary.
- Communicate results against published goals to department associates and use results to incorporate accountability and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Hire, develop, supervise, support, and evaluate associates in area of responsibility to include supporting positive employee relations; enforcing company policies, department procedures, and safety procedures; ensuring policies are administered consistently and equitably; recommending and executing personnel actions; addressing associate complaints and resolving issues; completing routine administrative tasks such as approving time and attendance, reviewing vacation schedules, etc.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget for assigned department(s).
- Proactively support continuous improvement initiatives and activities.
- Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required and five years of logistics experience with increasing levels of responsibility or equivalent experience required.
- Strong knowledge of the shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes in the printing industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and applications required.
- Ability to learn and use company-specific computer applications and software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Requires occasional standing, walking, carrying, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to lift cartons up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
