Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is soliciting applications for an Imaging Analyst position (Research Assistant III) in the Center for Pulmonary Imaging Research. The CPIR is a multidisciplinary department affiliated with the areas of Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, and Neonatology at Cincinnati Children’s, which is currently ranked #2 in the U.S. among children’s hospitals. The CPIR focuses on proton and hyperpolarized-gas MRI of the respiratory system to understand regional pulmonary structure and function in children and adults with respiratory diseases, and CPIR faculty and staff engage in research that is directly translational, with frequent interaction with basic scientists, radiologists, pulmonologists, neonatologists, and cardiologists. The candidate’s cutting-edge work within the CPIR will focus on clinically relevant neonatal imaging research and will interface frequently with the multidisciplinary Cincinnati Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Center, which focuses on personized clinical care for preterm infants with cardiorespiratory disease.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow protocols for image reconstruction, segmentation, data management, processing, analysis, quantification, and other data-related tasks. Independently troubleshoot and improve established protocols when beneficial. Explore and validate novel image processing workflows to innovate new analyses, expand functionality, and/or improve sensitivity/accuracy. Provide scientific guidance at research-patient imaging exams. Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills for collecting and maintaining subject-level and study-level data. Awareness of changes in key analysis software systems and any ramifications to workflows, existing datasets, or study designs.
Participate actively in laboratory meetings with expressed willingness to share results openly. Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and contribute to growth. Create curated imaging reports with clinically relevant findings in research subjects. Generate data, figures, tables, and other materials for reports, publications, and abstracts.

·Perform experiments and record data
Follow established research protocols. Understand the scientific principles involved in the research. Apply those principles to troubleshoot and modify procedures and techniques when appropriate. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data and perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Apply standard protocols to specific experiments. Assists in training post doctoral fellows, graduate students, and junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment. Capable of directing an undergraduate trainee in simple, well-established procedures. Maintains an active role in laboratory's meetings, presentations, and publications. Contributes material for reports, publications, journal articles, and abstracts. Able to orally present data in group presentations.

Utilize internal and external resources to reproduce, evaluate, research, and improve techniques, bring in new techniques or modify existing techniques. Evaluate innovative techniques
·Lab Administration
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Troubleshoot and/or make modifications as necessary to established procedures. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Willing and able to assist in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness. Maintains optimal protocol and assay accuracy by conducting regular quality checks. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.)
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
·Bachelor's degree in a related field
· 1 year of work experience in a related job discipline OR Master's degree in a related field
Preferred:
Master’s degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, bioinformatics, physics, or related field; OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 1 year of work experience in a related job discipline. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Unique Skills:
Preferred applicants will have one or more of the following: experience in medical imaging research and analysis; basic competency in at least one programming language (e.g. MATLAB, Python); and/or experience with image processing software/toolkits (e.g. MIRTK, ImageJ).
